Inder Saxena, a money minded man from Delhi, is supposed to supervise a project in Pratapgarh. There he meets his college mate Prakash, his teacher, Professor Daya Shankar Sharma and his daughter Rama. Inder loses his heart to Rama at first sight unaware that Prakash is also in love with Rama. Prakash, who secretly admires Rama tells Inder (Amitabh Bachchan) that she is the kind of girl who can't be lured with the power of money.
