In his second State-level conference of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founded by 51-year-old actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay at Parapathi in Madurai district on Thursday (August 21, 2025), said the electoral fight in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls will be between his party and the DMK.
Thousands of TVK cadres and fans of Vijay have thronged from various parts of Tamil Nadu at the venue since Wednesday (August 20, 2025) night.
Declaring that he was going to make a surprise announcement, TVK president Vijay went on to state that he will be contesting in Madurai East Assembly constituency (during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls), paused for a moment and went on to list the nine other Assembly constituencies in Madurai district.Later, he said that it would mean that he (Vijay) is contesting if TVK cadres are contesting in each of the constituencies across Tamil Nadu and that vote to TVK would mean vote to him.
