Welcome to yet another edition of Press Perspective.
It's Friday November First here in South Korea.
I'm Min Sunhee.
Today our panel of press members touch upon a growing trend here in Korea triggered by author Han Kang's Nobel accolade.
For this I have essayist and broadcaster Colin Marshall here in the studio.
Colin it's a pleasure.
I also have Chloe Borgnon a correspondent for French network France 24.
Chloe welcome back.

1) Colin, has Han Kang's winning of this year Nobel Prize for Literature boosted interest in Korean books, and perhaps, in reading, as a whole?

2) Chloe, France boasts the biggest number of Nobel laureates in literature with a total of 16 out of 121.
How does the interest in books and reading among the French compare to that here in Korea?

3) Colin, a recent article by The Guardian highlights a new trend among the Gen Z whose members appear to believe "reading is sexy".
How do you explain this phenomenon?

4) Chloe, author Han Kang owns a small bookstore that has been gathering huge crowds in recent days following her winning of this year's Nobel.
Some believe growing interest in her work can serve to boost tourism.
What are your thoughts on the potential ripple effects of winning a Nobel Prize?

5-1) Colin, Han Kang's quaint bookstore has reignited public interest in small neighborhood bookstores.
Have you ever been to one?

5-2) Colin, do you believe more should be done to keep small shops around?

6) Chloe, news of Han Kang's winning of the Nobel translated to huge sales for big bookstores and not much for their smaller counterparts, prompting one mega bookstore to briefly stop sales of her works, encouraging the public to turn to their small neighborhood bookstores first.
What are your thoughts of such efforts?

7) Chloe, a number of European media outlets have been covering the global popularity of Hallyu that now includes its books.
How do you explain this growing phenomenon?

8) And Colin, what about you?
How do you care to explain the global popularity of Hallyu?

9) Chloe, the Frankfurt Book Fair took place last month, and media reports touched upon the greater number of visitors to the Korea Stand.
What are your thoughts regarding the prospects of Korean literature among global readers?

10) Colin, Han Kang's Nobel Prize for Literature this year has fueled a fresh mission within the Culture Ministry to nurture more renowned writers.
What are your words of advice?
